KPWA Health Research Institute seeks volunteers
Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute and the University of Washington are working together on a study about how to make medication use safer for older adults living with dementia.
The research study is called STOP Falls D. We are making educational brochures and self-help sheets to help adults living with dementia and their caregivers learn about side effects from medications that can be risky for adults aged 60 and older and provide safer alternatives for managing the symptoms that these medications are often used to treat.
We want these materials to be easy to understand so we want to talk to Kaiser Permanente Senior Governance members who can provide the perspectives of adults aged 60 and older. You do not need to have a diagnosis of dementia but, we are hoping to interview people who may know someone with dementia, particularly someone who is a caregiver for someone with dementia. We hope you will help us by participating in a 30-60 minute online or telephone interview to share your opinions on our materials.
What will happen to me if I join this study?
We will ask you to participate in a 30-60 minute online or telephone interview. We will ask you about thoughts, feelings, and reactions to the brochures. We will ask you for suggestions to make the information as clear as possible.
After the interview, we will mail you $50 to thank you for your participation and for sharing your opinions on our materials.
What should I do if Iām interested in participating?
If you are interested in participating in an interview, please email Monica.M.Fujii@kp.org and let her know you are interested in the STOP Falls D Interview. A member of our research study team will contact you to tell you more about this study, answer any questions you have, and if you are appropriate for the study and still interested schedule you into an interview.
If you have any question you can email: Monica.M.Fujii@kp.org or call (206) 287-2211.
